Old Photos
I have managed to obtain a few old postcards from early 1900's showing some views of the river and it is interesting to note some of the features.

Picture (pre-1914) of the Run looking downstream towards Big Pool. The barren nature of the slope is even more obvious than it's current state - the result of mining waste from Virtuous Lady's Mine - containing arsenic (associated with tin mining) which tends to stunt all plant growth!

Picture (1940's) from Denham Bridge looking downstream - tantalising, there appears to be a boat at the bend in the river, but it's not that clear. The river was, of course, navigable way beyond Lopwell Dam before the dam (and it's fish-pass) was built by Plymouth City Council in 1953.
